How to configure Sip Account in Nokia N900

Go to Settings > Voip and IM accounts > New

MISSING FOLDER OPTIONS

1. Click start - run or press (windw + r)

2. Type " regedit"

3. select : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

    \CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

4. You will see an item in the right side pane called  "NoFolderOptions" double click on the item

5. If you dnt find the "NoFolderOptions"  

6. Select : Edit - New - DWORD Value

7. Rename the new dword as "NoFolderOptions"

8. Set the DWORD Value as "0"

9. Restart your system.

PC Suite not restoring my Contacts ....!

I backup my all N73 contents for software update and i have update the N73 Software,updated successfully, after that i am trying to restore all the contents except contacts everything is getting restored. i tried to restore contacts alone it is not getting restored,i got screwed up . I posted in the nokia forum also, i am not find a solution for that.

googling googling .... after 3 days i found the solution.......

finally i tried with following application(Nokia Contact Transfer), Oh God finally i got it.

Go to the 'Services' tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service,

disable it, apply the changes & reboot.

Set the value to either 0-Disable.

DISABLE PREFETCH ON LOW MEMORY SYSTEMS

Prefetch is designed to speed up program launching by preloading programs into memory - not a good idea is memory is in short supply, as it can make programs hang. To disable prefetch:

1. Click 'Start' then 'Run'
2. Type in 'Regedit' then click 'Ok'
3. Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Session Manager\Memory         Management\PrefetchParameters\'
4. Right-click on "EnablePrefetcher" and set the value to '0'
5. Reboot.

CREATE A BATCH FILE TO TAKE DAILY BACKUP

Daily backup for a selected folder or file...

this batch file wil create a new folder with curent date automaticaly....

how to create a batch file...

1. open a notepad file

SPEEDUP MENU DISPLAY

1.  Click Start. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2.  Click the Advanced tab. In the Performance area, click Settings.

3.  On the Visual Effects tab in the Performance Options dialog box, clear the Fade or slide menus intoview check box.

4.  Click OK.

5.  In the System Properties dialog box, click OK.

     Now when you click a menu, it will appear almost instantly.

DISABLE AUTOPLAY HARD DISK DRIVES

IF U DNT HAV INTRT FECLTY IN YR SYSTEM :  just try this temp solution....

1.  start - run (or) press - windw+ r

2. type "gpedit.msc" configuration (group policy) screen ll open

3. select : computer configuration\ administrative templates \ system

4. You will see an item in the right side pane called  "Turn off Autoplay" double click on the item

5. set the radio button to Enabled, and change the "Turn off Autoplay on" to All Drives.

6. do the same 4th  & 5th steps in undr :  user configuration\ administrative templates \ system 

7. restart your systm.

Now you should be safe from the autoplay.....

SPEEDUP FOLDER ACCESS - DISABLE LAST ACCESS UPDATE

If you have a lot of folders and subdirectories on your computer, when you access a directory XP wastes a lot of time updating the time stamp showing the last access time for that directory and for ALL sub directories. To stop XP doing this you need to edit the registry. If you are uncomfortable doing this then please do not attempt.

Go to Start and then Run and type "regedit"
Click through the file system until you get to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\FileSystem"
Right-click in a blank area of the window on the right and select 'DWORD Value'
Create a new DWORD Value called 'NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate'
Then Right click on the new value and select 'Modify'
Change the Value Data to '1'
Click 'OK'

SPEEDUP FOLDER BROWSING

You may have noticed that everytime you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. To fix this and to increase browsing significantly:

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on Tools menu
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the View tab.
5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok
8. Reboot your computer

IMPROVE XP SHUTDOWN SPEED

This tweak reduces the time XP waits before automatically closing any running programs when you give it the command to shutdown.

Go to Start then select Run
Type 'Regedit' and click ok
Find 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\'
Select 'WaitToKillAppTimeout'
Right click and select 'Modify'
Change the value to '1000'
Click 'OK'

N73 Copy & Paste

I've had this phone for over a year now and have, to my shame, only just figured out how to copy and paste.  I had an inkling it could do it because there's an option in your call log to "Use Number" where one of the sub-menu options is "Copy"; which just made it more frustrating that I couldn't figure out how to paste!!

Anyway, it turns out to be an amazingly simple mechanism using the edit key (the one on the bottom left with the pencil icon on it - I knew it had to have some purpose!!). Thanks to some person called Walker for his generic guide to Symbian Series 60 functionality.

Copy: To copy text to the clipboard, hold the pencil/edit key until Copy appears on the screen above the right soft-key and scroll using the joystick to select the text. When you've selected the text to copy, just hit Copy.

Paste: To paste text from the clipboard, move the cursor to where you want to paste and hold the pencil key until Paste appears on the screen by your right soft key. When it appears and then press the right soft key to paste.

Change TCP/IP using command line

This is very helpful for the people they connecting their laptop to their different office. Those office having different TCP/IP setting.

Ex.

Office 1 using static ip address

Office 2 using dynamic ip address.

 

Soln

Create a batchfile for office 1

C:\ip\Office1.bat

netsh interface ip set address name="Wireless Network Connection" static 172.18.11.100 255.255.248.0 172.18.8.1 1

netsh interface ip add dns "Wireless Network Connection" 172.18.9.1

netsh interface ip add dns "Wireless Network Connection" 172.18.9.2

 

Create a batchfile for office 2

C:\ip\Office2.bat

netsh interface ip set address "Wireless Network Connection" dhcp

netsh interface ip set dns "Wireless Network Connection" dhcp

 

right click on cmd.exe run as Administrator

go to c:\ip

execute whichever you want.

Or u can right click on your batch file run as administrator.

 

Similary you can add other details for your TCP/IP connection

For Dns

netsh interface ip set dns "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.10

For WINS

netsh interface ip set wins "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.0.10

Note : instead of  "Local Area Connection"  or "Wireless Network Connection" change your Network connection name

Hack a memory card password

You need a file explorer like FExplorer which you can download from here.

How to Unlock MMC card:

Insert card into your phone but don't access it through phone.

• Run FExplorer and Open the path C:\system.
  
• You will find a file called mmcstore ,rename the file mmcstore.txt
  
• Copy that file(mmcstore.txt) to your pc and open that file in notepad.
  
• You will find your password in that file.
  

How to uninstall/delete Vista with dual-boot with XP

If you really got bored with all the new looks and new features being offered with new windows vista and want to remove vista to free up some disk space.
But you may have installed vista in dual boot configuration with xp so i that case you have to adopt a whole new different procedure in order to uninstall vista.
Step By Step Procedure to Uninstall Vista in dual boot config:
Microsoft has released a very simple procedure to follow.
1. Boot your system in to Windows XP.
2. Ensure you have the Vista DVD image emulated or in the DVD drive.
3. Go to Start>>Run. Type e:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
4. You will notice the boot selection menu of vista now gone.
5. Format the partition/drive where you had Vista .
6. Remove two files Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK on your XP drives root folder (C:).
7. Restart to make sure that it works.
8. Merge the partitions together if you want.
